There’s something magical about traveling with friends—the laughter, the shared memories, and the thrill of discovering new places together. Last summer, my group of friends and I decided to ditch our usual routines and embark on a journey to Rajasthan, the land of kings, colors, and endless adventures. We had booked a group holiday tour package for the stress-free travel, and little did we know, it would turn into one of the most exciting trips of our lives.
The Beginning: Excitement and Anticipation
The idea of exploring Rajasthan had been on our minds for a while. The stories of grand forts, golden deserts, and vibrant culture always fascinated us. After months of planning (and countless group chats), we finally settled on a week-long trip. Booking the tour package made things easier, and it covered everything from stays to sightseeing, so we could just focus on enjoying ourselves.
As our flight landed in Jaipur, the Pink City, the excitement was palpable. The warm breeze, the bustling streets, and the faint sound of folk music playing somewhere in the distance welcomed us. We knew right away that this trip was going to be special.
Day 1-2: Jaipur – The Royal Welcome
Our first stop was Jaipur, a city that perfectly blends history with modern charm. We checked into a beautiful heritage hotel that made us feel like royalty. The next morning, we set out to explore.
-
Amber Fort: Riding elephants up the fort’s ramparts was an experience straight out of a movie. The intricate carvings and stunning mirror work inside left us in awe.
-
Hawa Mahal: The “Palace of Winds” was as mesmerizing as we had imagined. Standing in front of its honeycomb windows, we couldn’t help but admire the craftsmanship.
-
City Palace & Jantar Mantar: Walking through the grand courtyards and seeing the world’s largest sundial made us appreciate Rajasthan’s rich history even more.
Evenings in Jaipur were all about street food—spicy pyaaz kachoris, sweet ghewar, and refreshing lassi kept our energy high as we roamed the colorful bazaars.
Day 3-4: Jodhpur – The Blue City and the Mighty Mehrangarh
Next, we headed to Jodhpur, the famous Blue City. The sight of countless blue houses against the backdrop of the imposing Mehrangarh Fort was breathtaking.
-
Mehrangarh Fort: Standing atop the fort, we felt like we were on top of the world. The museum inside had fascinating artifacts, and the panoramic view of the blue city below was unforgettable.
-
Jaswant Thada: This marble memorial was peaceful and serene, a perfect spot for some quiet reflection.
-
Umaid Bhawan Palace: Part museum, part luxury hotel, this palace made us dream of living like kings (even if just for a day).
We also indulged in some local shopping—colorful mojris, traditional bandhani dupattas, and handmade jewelry made for perfect souvenirs.
Day 5-6: Jaisalmer – The Golden Desert Adventure
The highlight of our trip was Jaisalmer, the Golden City. The moment we entered the Thar Desert, it felt like stepping into another world.
-
Jaisalmer Fort: Unlike other forts, this one was alive with shops, cafes, and homes inside its walls. Walking through its narrow lanes was like traveling back in time.
-
Sam Sand Dunes: The desert safari was pure adrenaline, just dune bashing in jeeps, camel rides at sunset, and sitting around a bonfire under the stars while local musicians played folk songs. We even tried some traditional Rajasthani dance steps (much to our own amusement).
-
Patwon Ki Haveli: The intricate carvings on these historic mansions left us speechless.
Sleeping in a luxury desert camp was an experience in itself. The cool desert night, the sound of music, and the endless sky full of stars made us wish time would stop.
Day 7: Udaipur – The Romantic Farewell
Our final stop was Udaipur, the City of Lakes. After the desert’s rugged beauty, Udaipur’s serene lakes and palaces felt like a dream.
-
City Palace: Overlooking Lake Pichola, this palace was grand yet elegant. The crystal gallery inside was unlike anything we’d ever seen.
-
Boat Ride on Lake Pichola: Gliding past the majestic Lake Palace and Jag Mandir as the sun set was the perfect way to end our trip.
-
Jagdish Temple & Saheliyon Ki Bari: The spiritual calm and beautiful gardens gave us a peaceful closure to our whirlwind adventure.
The End of the Journey, But Not the Memories
As we boarded our flight back home, we realized how much we had experienced in just seven days. From the grandeur of Jaipur to the golden sands of Jaisalmer and the tranquil lakes of Udaipur, Rajasthan has given us memories we’d cherish forever.
Traveling with friends made everything ten times more fun, whether it was getting lost in the markets, laughing at our failed dance attempts, or simply sitting together watching the desert sky. The Rajasthan Royal Holiday Tour for 7 Days was more than just a trip, it was such an adventure filled with thrill, laughter, and the joy of discovering a land steeped in history and culture.
