Exploring 3 Gems of Rajasthan with Family: Blue City- Pink City- Lakes City

Rajasthan is like a treasure place which is full of colors, stories, and surprises. Last winter, my family and I decided to discover this royal state and explore three of their most dazzling gems: Jodhpur, the Blue City; Jaipur, the Pink City; and Udaipur, the City of Lakes. What followed was a week of laughter, awe, and memories we will cherish forever. If you are planning a trip with your loved ones, a Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur tour package might just be the perfect family tour for you. Here is the reason.

First Stop: Jaipur – The Pink City’s Royal Welcome

Our journey began in Jaipur. The moment we entered the city, the pink walls welcomed us like old friends. Jaipur was grand, bustling, and full of surprises.

Amber Fort: Riding elephants up to the fort was a hit with the kids! The gentle giants swayed as we climbed, and Riya giggled the whole way. Inside, the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) left us speechless—tiny mirrors sparkled like stars under our phone’s flashlight.

Hawa Mahal: No trip to Jaipur is complete without seeing this honeycomb-like palace. We stood across the street, ice cream in hand, admiring its countless windows. Arjun asked, “Did the queens really sit here to watch the street?” Our guide nodded, and suddenly, history felt alive.

City Palace & Jantar Mantar: The palace’s mix of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture was stunning. But Jantar Mantar, the ancient observatory, stole the show. The giant sundials and instruments fascinated the kids. “They measured time without watches?!” Arjun exclaimed.

Local Flavors: Dinner at Chokhi Dhani, a cultural village, was the perfect end. We ate dal baati churma, watched folk dances, and even tried camel rides. The kids got their hands painted with henna, and we all slept that night with full hearts (and stomachs).

Next Adventure: Jodhpur – Where the Sky Meets the Blue City

From Jaipur, we took a comfortable road trip to Jodhpur, a city that looks like someone dipped it in blue paint. As our train chugged into the station, the first thing we saw was the mighty Mehrangarh Fort towering over clusters of blue houses. My kids, Riya and Arjun, pressed their faces against the window, their eyes wide with excitement.

Mehrangarh Fort: Standing at the foot of the fort, I felt tiny. The walls, thick and tall, whispered stories of battles and kings. Inside, the museum was a wonderland—royal palanquins, intricate swords, and vibrant turbans. The best part? The panoramic view of Jodhpur’s blue houses from the top. Arjun insisted it looked like “a sea of blue Lego blocks.”

Jaswant Thada: Just a short drive away, this marble memorial was peaceful and beautiful. The kids ran around the gardens while my wife and I admired the delicate carvings that glowed in the sunlight.

Clock Tower Market: Chaos, colors, and the irresistible smell of mirchi vadas, this market was alive! We bargained for souvenirs, tasted makhaniya lassi, and got lost in the maze of shops. Riya even picked out a tiny blue puppet, calling it her “Jodhpur friend.”

By evening, we sat at a rooftop café, sipping chai as the fort lit up like a golden crown. Jodhpur was not just blue, but it was magical.

Final Retreat: Udaipur – Romance by the Lakes

If Jaipur was grand and Jodhpur was bold, Udaipur was pure romance. Nestled between serene lakes, this city felt like a dream.

Boat Ride on Lake Pichola: Gliding across the lake at sunset, the City Palace and Jag Mandir glowing in golden light, it was unreal. Even the kids fell silent, soaking in the beauty. “It’s like a fairy tale,” Riya whispered.

City Palace: Bigger and more intricate than Jaipur’s, this palace had hidden balconies, mirrored ceilings, and stunning courtyards. The vintage car museum nearby was a bonus; Arjun’s eyes lit up at the Rolls-Royces.

Sajjangarh (Monsoon Palace): Perched on a hill, this palace offered a breathtaking view of Udaipur at dusk. The wind played with our hair as we watched the city lights flicker to life.

Shopping in Udaipur: The markets here were less chaotic. We bought miniature paintings, silver jewelry, and pichwai art. The kids picked out keychains with tiny elephants—”So we never forget the trip,” they said.

Why This Trip Was Perfect for Families

  1. Mix of Fun & Learning: From forts to museums, every stop taught the kids something new without feeling like a classroom.

  2. Comfortable Travel: The roads were smooth, hotels were family-friendly, and the pace was just right, not too rushed.

  3. Food Adventures: Picky eaters? Not here! The kids devoured kachorisghewar, and even tried laal maas (with lots of water!).

  4. Memorable Experiences: Elephant rides, boat trips, puppet shows, and every day had something special.

Final Thoughts

Rajasthan is not just a place, it’s an experience. The three cities- Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur- each had their own charm, yet together, they painted a picture of royalty, culture, and warmth. If you are looking for a family tour package that offers history, adventure, and bonding, the Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur tour is a brilliant choice.

As we boarded our flight back home, Riya hugged her blue puppet, Arjun fiddled with his elephant keychain, and my wife and I exchanged a smile. Rajasthan didn’t just give us souvenirs; it gave us stories we’d tell for years. And who knows? Maybe we’ll return someday, because some treasures are worth revisiting.
